While I recognize that the holidays are a challenging and even sad time for many people, for me Christmas is still my favorite holiday of the year. There's nothing like being together with joyful people on Christmas Eve as we sing, celebrate, and light candles in a festive worship service. Spending time with my wife and family is also one of the things that brings me joy. Then there's usually a special cinnamon roll on Christmas morning that gets that wonderful day off to a fun start. But there's a much more significant reason I find joy at Christmas.

All year, I have the privilege of sharing about the love of God for all people in His son, Jesus Christ. I often share the message of John 3:16 in which we're reminded that it's because of God's love for all of us that He sent His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in him can have eternal life. But at Christmas, the truth of those words really becomes a reality for me as I gaze upon a manger scene or sing Silent Night.

Whether you worship with us frequently or only a couple times a year, I pray that this Christmas you will experience Christ's love for you in a profound, even perhaps a new and more meaningful way. If you're struggling during this season, know that you are loved and you're not alone. Seek help if you need it, but also know that God has sent Jesus to you so you can find peace and joy.

May God grant you a very Merry and Joy-filled Christmas!
